June 1987 was a starting point for oil production in Urengoi. Construction of oil production facilities was completed that year and the first tons of oil were recovered.
For a decade of oil fringes development, two central oil gathering stations were built, about 450 km of pipelines were constructed, 293 wells were put on production and six million tons of oil and 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas were produced.

The Division maintains close relations with several Russian Research Institutes (Tyumen NIIGiprogas, VnllGas, and Ufa Oil Institute). This cooperation enabled to solve problems on stimulation of oil production, paraffin and hydrate formation in the pipelines of the production system, oil treatment and transportation. Creation of measuring units (Potok) for well production rate, accurate definition of the geological structure of oil reserves and introduction of such oil recovery methods as EtsN, gaslift and plunger gaslift were the result of fruitful collaboration with the State Academy of Oil and Gas.
The annual oil output of the Association is up to 700 thousand tons.

On April 16, 1985 PA "Urengoigasdobychu" issued an order on foundation
of the oil production dispatch service on the basis of which the Oil
and Gas Producing Division was established in October 1986.
0n ]uly 9, 1987 central oil gathering station No I was put into service.
